Police in Newark are on the search for the driver of a car that struck a woman on a street in Newark's North Ward then sped away from the scene early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police say a white four-door vehicle struck the pedestrian in the vicinity of 239 Lake Street at around 12:30 a.m.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene found the unidentified person suffering severe injuries police said.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment while police stayed in the area checking surveillance video to find the vehicle responsible for the incident.
Police say there were no other injuries reported and the driver of the car remains at-large.
