A tragic incident occurred in Elizabeth early Tuesday morning as authorities responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
The situation happened around 1:17 a.m. in the 1000 block of Spring Street near Neck Lane.
Emergency responders, including the police and EMS, rushed to the scene, where they discovered an unconscious and unresponsive individual who had sustained severe injuries from the collision.
Despite their best efforts, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The victim's identity remains undisclosed at this time.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office has been notified and is actively involved in the investigation. As of now, no additional injuries have been reported in connection with this incident.
Authorities temporarily closed the affected section of Spring Street to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
