Paterson Woman Charged with Stealing Toy for Tots Donations from Wayne Police Station

Police in Wayne announced the arrest of a woman charged with stealing toy donations from the city's police station drop-off location. 

Police say on Friday, December 3rd, at approximately 5:05 p.m., a woman was in the Wayne Police Department lobby while she waited to meet someone.

Wayne officials said alert dispatchers in the Wayne Police Communications Bureau observed the woman via security cameras exit the lobby to the main corridor of Town Hall and approach the Toys for Tots donation bins.

According to police, Ms. Rasha Elsayed, 40, of Paterson, proceeded to remove ten (10) ten different toys from the bins and placed them in the bags that she had with her.

The Communications Bureau notified the Detective Bureau. The Wayne Police Detective Bureau, Special Operations Bureau and Enforcement Unit proceeded to the lobby and observed the toys protruding from the woman's bags.

Detectives took Elsayed into custody for theft and recovered the toys, totaling $155.31 in value.

The charges against Ms. Elsayed are merely accusations and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
