Paterson Police Search For Man Wanted for Attempted Murder

Police said on Monday, December 1, at approximately 2:15 p.m units responded to an alert for shots fired from the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot alert system in the area of Ellison and Prospect Streets in the city’s 1st Ward. While en route  to the location, units were advised that a dark colored SUV had just left the area at a high rate of speed.

Patrol units stopped an SUV in the area of Main/Market Streets, and at that time found a 26 year old shooting victim inside the vehicle’s passenger seat.

Authorities said the victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. As a result of an investigation conducted by Detectives Aramis Alba and Francisco Brito of the Ceasefire Unit, Andre Edwards was identified as the alleged actor in this incident. Edwards has been charged with Attempted Murder and Weapons Offenses.
