Paterson Police Involved Shooting Under Investigation

Police in Paterson set up a crime scene near a NJ highway after gunfire erupted in the area overnight.

According to a preliminary statement released by county officials, The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Shooting Response Team was activated for a reported police-involved shooting that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night in the area of Madison Avenue and Route 80 in

Paterson.

The incident appeared to have initiated from a traffic stop that somehow escalated into shots being fired at the vehicle.

EMS arrived at the scene for injuries, but The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has not released the extent and who was injured at this time.

According to the statement, police say the scene was immediately secured, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
