Paterson Police Arrests Car Theft Suspects; Keys Left in Vehicle

Paterson Police made swift arrests of suspects who jumped inside a car that was left running on a street in the city overnight.

The incident happened in the area of Ellison and Main streets just before 12:30 a.m. where the owner of the car reportedly exited the vehicle to use the ATM but left the keys inside.

According to reports, male suspects immediately entered the vehicle and sped off.

Dispatchers notified police, who were conducting routine patrol, in the downtown where officers began to canvas the area for the blue 2004 Suzuki.

Officers in the area spotted the vehicle in the vicinity of Broadway and Auburn where they managed to get the driver to pull over, and arrests were made.

There were no injuries reported.
