Officials have not publicly identified the victim.

The incident stems from a March 27 case in which police say a man abducted the woman’s 3-year-old son during an early morning encounter.

According to information released by authorities, the child was taken at approximately 6:30 a.m. and was later safely located and reunited with family members.

The suspect, identified as Matthew Vega, had initially been charged with assault in connection with the incident.

Following the victim’s death, additional charges could be considered as the investigation progresses.

Court records show Vega is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. A motion hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday.

Officials have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
