Paterson Man Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash in Cranford

A head-on crash in Cranford involving a tractor trailer, left a 50-year-old man trapped and seriously injured this afternoon.

Cranford Police responded to a reported traffic accident on the 200 block of North Ave. East at approximately 1:54 p.m. Upon arrival, police found that a 18-wheeler tractor trailer traveling westbound on North Avenue East collided head-on with a box style truck traveling east. Following an extrication by fire personnel, the driver of the box truck, a 50-year-old male from Paterson, was transported by the Cranford Fire EMS to University Hospital in Newark with potentially serious injuries. The investigation is continuing and no summonses have been issued at this time.
