Paterson Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Minor Endangerment

Authorities in Passaic County announced that Renato C. LaTorre, 25, of Paterson, was sentenced to a term of six years in New Jersey State Prison by the Honorable Barbara J. Buono Stanton, a Judge of the Superior Court.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated that on April 4, 2023, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information through The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating that the user of a Google account belonging to Renato C. LaTorre had uploaded 15 videos depicting Explicit Materials Involving Minors (CSAM) between June 22, 2022, and July 18, 2022.

Members of the ICAC Task Force located an additional 18 videos associated with Mr. LaTorre’s Google account, PCPO officials say. Based on the investigation, Renato C. LaTorre was identified as the person in control of the account containing 33 videos depicting CSAM.

According to Passaic County authorities, on April 4, 2023, at about 10:00 a.m., members of the ICAC Task Force arrested Mr. Latorre at his residence in Paterson.

The Honorable Barbara J. Buono Stanton, J.S.C., presided over a jury trial that commenced on March 13, PCPO officials said. On March 26, a Passaic County petit jury convicted Mr. LaTorre of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Passaic County officials say that on June 13, Judge Stanton sentenced Mr. Latorre to a term of six years in New Jersey State Prison, with five years to be served before parole eligibility.

Upon release from prison, Mr. Latorre will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law registration requirements, PCPO officials stated.
