Paterson Man Found Guilty of Murder

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Charles M. Grant, 34, of Paterson, was found guilty Monday afternoon after a jury trial before the Honorable Sohail Mohammed, J.S.C., of one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Second Degree Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, and one count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.

Officials say Grant was charged in the shooting death of Isaac D. Tucker, which occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, February 23, 2015.

The evidence at trial demonstrated that defendant opened fire on Mr. Tucker in front of 296 East 16th Street at approximately 2:18 a.m. as the two men were walking together from the Alto Rango Liquor Store located at 253 12th Avenue in the City of Paterson. Mr. Tucker was shot at close range in the

face, chest, and back by the defendant.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2018 before Judge Mohammed. Following the guilty verdict, Judge Mohammed revoked defendant’s million dollar bail, and remanded him to the Passaic County Jail pending sentence.

Grant faces a maximum of life in prison for the Murder of Mr. Tucker.
