Authorities in Passaic County are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man who succumbed to injuries days after being found unresponsive in the street following a reported fight.
According to a joint statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray, police were called to the area of Broadway and Carroll Street in Paterson at approximately 8:49 a.m. on July 4, 2025, after receiving reports of an altercation.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim lying unresponsive in the middle of the roadway.
The man, a Paterson resident, was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Tragically, on July 8, 2025, the victim was pronounced dead.
Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.
