Paterson Man Accused of Raping Passenger Outside Wyckoff Home

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of 31-year-old Al-Quon Hopkins, of Paterson, on charges of aggravated sexual assault.

The arrest came about as the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Officer in Charge, Deputy Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Wyckoff Police Department under the direction of Chief David Murphy.

During the early morning hours of Oct. 17th, the Wyckoff Police Department received a 911 call of a sexual assault that had just occurred at a residence in Wyckoff.

The investigation revealed that the victim utilized an online car service for which Al-Quon Hopkins worked as a driver.

Hopkins sexually assaulted the victim in the vicinity of the driveway of the victim’s home. The Wyckoff Police responded to the scene and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. At that time, a joint investigation commenced.

As a result of the investigation, Hopkins was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, 2C:14-2a(7), a 1st degree crime.

The Honorable Susan J. Steele, P.J.Cr. of Bergen County set bail at $250,000.00 with no ten percent option. As conditions of bail, Hopkins is to have no contact with the victim, must surrender his passport and cannot work as a livery driver.

He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Nov. 4th.
