Paterson Driver Charged With DUI After Pedestrian Struck, Killed

A pedestrian was killed Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in Paterson, authorities said.

 

According to a statement released by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray, the crash occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. September 13 near 23rd Avenue and Trenton Avenue.

 

Authorities said an unidentified pedestrian was struck by a Toyota RAV4 and rushed to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

 

Police identified the driver of the RAV4 as 25-year-old Roniel Arias of Paterson. Arias was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the incident.

 

Officials said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
