Paterson Cop Injured After Firework is Thrown Under His Car

A police officer suffered a minor hand injury after fireworks were tossed under his vehicle Tuesday night.

According to police, officers were at the corner of Main and Grove streets shortly after dark in an unmarked car after reports of revelers throwing fireworks under passing cars.

Shortly after they unidentified officer exited his police vehicle something exploded underneath, injuring his hand.

Police compared the fireworks those usually shot off in the air that produce sparks.

By approximately 10:45 p.m., additional units responded to the area to assist control and clear the fast growing crowd.
