17-Year-Old Paterson Resident Arrested for Armed Robbery of Restaurant

Police took a teenaged boy into custody and are on the search for another juvenile who held up a restaurant in Paterson on Thursday.

According to a statement released by police, on May 23, 2019, at approximately 10:25 a,m. Paterson Police Officers Maribel Seabrooks was flagged down by a citizen in the area of Union Avenue and Kearney Street, who reported the "El Fogon" Restaurant located at 475 Union Avenue was being robbed.

Police officials say, Officer Seabrooks, jumped into action and immediately responded to the location while notifying communications and surrounding units.

Officials say, as the officer arrived at the location, she observed two male blacks exiting the restaurant and both suspects began to flee on foot.

A description of the suspects was broadcast to numerous responding units, and one of the two suspects was taken into custody in the area of Garrison Street by Officer Eddie Romero according to police officials.

Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation into the robbery and are currently pursuing the investigation and in the process of identifying the second suspect.

There were no injuries reported.
