Passenger Accused of Exiting Plane Through Emergency Hatch at Newark Airport, Arrested

A 25-year-old United Airlines passenger was taken into custody Sunday night after he allegedly opens the emergency escape hatch and exited using the inflatable slide.

According to police, sometime around 10 p.m, Port Authority police were called to Newark Airport Terminal C for a report of a disorderly subject.

Upon arrival, officers learned that 25-year-old Troy Fattun, of Micronesia, was at Newark Airport waiting to board his flight to Tampa, Florida Sunday evening authorities said.

However, according to Fattun, he somehow got onto the wrong flight and instead boarded United Airlines Flight 1640.

Police said that once Fattun realized he was on the wrong flight he allegedly escaped the plane using the emergency exit.

Oficiales arrested Fattun and added that charges are pending.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of this incident.
