A 51-year-old Passaic man is facing sexual assault charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a female inside a Hoboken apartment.
The Hoboken Police Department received a report of a sexual assault on April 23, at a residence in Hoboken from a female victim.
The victim reportedly was walking home alone shortly after 6 p.m. and as she attempted to enter her apartment, she was grabbed from behind and pushed into her home where she was sexually assaulted.
As a result of an ongoing police investigation, on May 30th at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Hoboken Police Department and Passaic Police Department arrested Marcos Blandino, 51, of Passaic.
Blandino has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of burglary.
The first court appearance for Blandino is scheduled for this afternoon in Criminal Justice Reform Court in the Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pre-trial detention of the Defendant.
In addition to the Special Victims Unit, Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Hoboken Police Department for their instrumental role in identifying the suspect, and the Passaic Police Department for assisting in the arrest.
The Prosecutor’s SVU is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Hoboken Police Department.
