Passaic County Sheriff Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound Inside Clifton Restaurant

Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik tragically ended his own life at Toros Restaurant on Hazel Street in Clifton on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by various news agencies. 

Sources told NorthJersey.com News that diners at the restaurant were startled by the sound of a gunshot emanating from the restroom, where Berdnik had reportedly entered moments earlier.

Authorities promptly secured the vicinity, isolating the restaurant and its immediate surroundings.

Before this devastating event, Berdnik was seen in the company of the restaurant's proprietor, Huseyin Bayram, and Cuneyt Gurkan.

It's noteworthy that the gathering was to honor Bayram, who was receiving a ceremonial key to the city.
