A judge in Passaic County sentenced a man to life in prison for a murder that occurred in 2015.

According to officials, Charles Grant, 38, of Paterson, was sentenced to an aggregate term of Life Imprisonment for the shooting death of Isaac Tucker on February 23, 2015, in the area of Warren Street and East 16th Street in Paterson.

Officials say, on February 23, 2015, the defendant, Charles Grant, shot Isaac Tucker four times at the close range, which resulted in his death.

The shooting, as well as the events preceding, were captured on surveillance video.

According to Paterson authorities, the defendant was apprehended in Maryland by members of the Paterson Police Department and the United States Marshalls Service and brought to New Jersey on April 15, 2015.

Authorities say, on September 27, at the conclusion of his trial, the jury returned guilty verdicts against Grant on charges of First-Degree Murder and Second-Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Grant was previously convicted on October 28, 2018, of these charges following a jury trial, but the New Jersey Appellate Division overturned that verdict on February 15.
