One person was killed in a late-night shooting in Paterson Thursday.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out near 662 East 24th Street around 8:20 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a severely injured female suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph's Medical Center, where doctors unsuccessfully treated severe injuries. The woman died shortly before 10:25 p.m.
Officials at the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office have taken over the homicide investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
No arrests have been immediately reported.
