There is a homicide investigation underway as authorities investigate the motive behind a fatal shooting that occurred overnight in Paterson.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of East 25th Street and 21st Avenue at approximately 1:45 a.m.
Units arrived and to find an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive person suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
According to police, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives canvassed the area in search for evidence to support what caused the shooting officials said.
The incident remains under investigation.
