A multi-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway, left at least one person dead this afternoon, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Police responded to the northbound side of Exit 91 on the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 93.6 for a report of a crash shortly before noon.
Upon arrival, initial investigation revealed that a Cadillac struck a Lexis from behind and went off the road where it struck some trees down the embankment.
Emergency crews responded to the scene for the driver of the Cadillac who appears to have suffered a medical problem just prior to the crash. The driver later died.
The passenger in the Cadillac was transported to Ocean County Medical Center in Brick with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Lexis was unharmed, police said.
The Crime Scene Investigation and Fatal Accident Investigation units responded to the scene of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
