Paramus Man Charged with Sex Assault, Child Endangerment

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of a 47-year-old Paramus man charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. 

On March 31, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Paramus Police Department arrested Frank O. Garcia after learning that he engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a fourteen year old female acquaintance. 

The victim was eleven years old when the inappropriate sexual activity occurred but only recently disclosed to her mother with the help of a close friend what had taken place with Garcia.    The victim’s mother immediately contacted the Paramus Police Department. They then notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by detectives from the Special Victims Unit and the Paramus Police Department at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus on March 31.    The Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) was also notified.    During that interview, the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Garcia.   The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of Garcia.  Frank O. Garcia's bail for was set by the Honorable Lisa A. Firko, J.S.C. at $300,000.00 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim and the surrender of his passport as a condition of bail.    Garcia was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
