Bergen County officials announced the arrest of Christopher Sambogna on a charge of Theft. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Palisades Park Police Department.
The Palisades Park Police Department received a complaint from a borough resident alleging that Sergeant Sambogna had stolen $10,000 from the resident.
Palisades Park Police then contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit regarding the complaint.
As a result of the subsequent investigation, on August 12, Sambogna was charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking Or Disposition. He was also suspended from his duties as a police officer.
Sambogna is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Wednesday, August 26.
