Palisades Park Man Charged with Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of Elmar Armando Tomas-Amira, 37, of Palisades Park, on charges of Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On November 18, 2015, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Palisades Park Police Department arrested Tomas-Amira after learning that approximately seven (7) years ago, he engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct with a seven (7) year old female acquaintance.

The Palisades Police Department learned of what the now fourteen (14) year old girl disclosed and notified the Special Victims Unit. The ensuing joint investigation resulted in the arrest of Tomas-Amira.

Tomas-Amira was charged with one (1) count each of Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Bail for Amira was set by the Honorable Edward Jerejian, J.S.C. at $250,000.00 with no ten percent option. He is to have no contact with the victim or her family and must surrender his passport as conditions of bail. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
