Pair Attempts to Scam Hillside Woman Out of $300

Police are on the search for two males accused of trying to rip off an elderly woman in a water pressure repair scam, police said.

According to police, at approximately 1:45 p.m. today, police were called to a home where

two suspects attempted to deceive a senior citizen resident and steal $300 from her.

The two suspects - only described as white males (one heavy set and the other tall and skinny) - allegedly asked to enter the victim's home to check the water pressure. The woman let them in after they told her that there was a problem with the water pressure in the area.

The individuals advised the woman that there was something wrong with her water pressure and it was going to cost her $7,000.00 if she had the water company repair it. The men offered to fix the problem by replacing a valve for only $300.00.

The woman became suspicious that this may be a scam and called immediately called the police but the suspects fled before officers arrived.

Police added that the suspects might have been traveling in a burgundy Dodge Caravan in the area of Stanley Terrace.
