Overturned Vehicle Traps Driver in Franklin Twp.

A 63-year-old Mount Laurel woman was taken to an area hospital after she was trapped in an overturned car in Franklin Township this morning.

Franklin Township Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an overturned motor vehicle on Amwell Road in the area of Mettlers Road at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2007 Dodge Charger off the roadway, on its roof.

Sgt. Teddy Cerra, Officer Frank Gianotto and Officer Larry Booker of the Franklin Township Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit made entry into the vehicle, where they rescued the driver, Adelaide Slobert, 63, of Mount Laurel, who was trapped upside down by her seatbelt.

The driver was extricate from her from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital with lacerations and other non-life threatening injuries.

The initial investigation revealed that Slobert was traveling westbound on Amwell Road when she crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes.

Her vehicle left the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning.

The factors that are contributed to the crash are under investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time

Amwell Road was closed between Mettlers Road and Elizabeth Avenue for approximately an hour and a half during the investigation and subsequent clean up.
