Emergency crews were called to a two-car crash on a busy stretch of Route 21 in Newark’s East Ward Monday morning.
The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. on McCarter Highway near Chestnut Street, just outside the McDonald’s restaurant.
Responding EMS units and police officers arrived to find one vehicle overturned in the middle of the roadway. 
No occupants were trapped inside, and responders quickly checked for injuries.
Police provided traffic control to slow vehicles passing through the area as crews worked to secure the scene.
No serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by Newark authorities.
