Overnight Shootings Injure Four in Newark

Police in Newark are investigating several overnight shootings that happened in the city causing bodily injury.

According to reports, at around 7:22 p.m., reports of shots fired in the area of Keer Ave. and Leslie Street. had two (2) male victims self-transpotred to Beth Israel Hospital suffering injury for gunfire. One of the victims was struck to the upper abdomen and will require surgery while the second victim was struck to the groin. Both victims' injuries was not reported as life threatening.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., gunfire rang out in the area on Springfield Ave. and Fairmont Ave. sending police to the scene where they found evidence of a shooting but no victim was located. University Hospital officials contacted police when a male victim walked into the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim's injury was not reported as life threatening but will require immediate surgery.

At around 10:30 p.m. several police units rushed to the area of Hawthorne Ave. and Peshine Ave. on reports of shots fired with a person suffering injury. Arriving units located a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the leg at that location. The victim was transported to Beth Israel Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.

A shooting location for a possible 5th victim of gunfire is unknown after the victim made his way to Beth Israel Hospital suffering an unknown injury at around 11 p.m.
