Overnight Gunfire Leaves Seven Shot, Two Fatalities in Newark

A night of shooting violence in Newark has detectives and investigators looking into two fatal shootings that occurred in the city.

A total of seven people suffered gunshot wounds with two of the victims fatally succumbing to their injuries according to authorities.

The latest homicide occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. where police responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of North 9th Street.

According to preliminary reports, arriving police officers found an unconscious and unresponsive female victim shot at that location.

Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene reports said.

There was an unconfirmed shooting reported on 14th Avenue and 7th Street at 11:30 p.m.

There are no motives for any of the shootings or no arrests reported.
