Police in Newark are investigating a stabbing that injured at least one person at a location in the city overnight.
Details regarding the incident are continuing to develop, but according to preliminary reports, police were notified by University Hospital officials of a person who entered the hospital's emergency department suffering injuries consistent to being stabbed at approximately 10 p.m.
Units arrived at the hospital, and after an investigation, they focused their attentions in the vicinity of 12th Avenue and 8th Street where they believe a fight led to a male being stabbed to the back and abdomen according to reports.
There were reports of a second person suffering stab wounds who entered the hospital a short time after the first victim.
Both victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests reported.
