Over $15K in Drugs Seized in Mercer County; One Arrested

The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a two-week investigation last Thursday with one arrest and the seizure of $15,250 in drugs, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

According to authorities, on September 7th, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, executed search warrants at the Grand Street residence of Darryl Rice.

A search of the residence revealed 70 grams of crack cocaine and 55 bricks of heroin. A search of Rice revealed $2,070 in cash.

Prosecutor’s Sergeant Brian Kiely stated the seized drugs have an approximate street value of $15,250.

Rice, 35, is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending further court proceedings.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
