The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation into a crash that killed one person and left about a half dozen individuals injured in North Brunswick.
According to a preliminary investigation, the late-night crash happened just before 11:50 p.m. on George Road and Laurel Place.
Police two cars collided near the intersection, causing one of the vehicles to lose control and strike several pedestrians at that location.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person who was eventually pronounced dead a short time later.
According to police, multiple mutual aid EMS units arrived at the scene to transport six victims to area hospitals to treat various injuries.
The investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
