One Killed, Another Shot and Third Person Injured  in Irvington

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, has announced an investigation into a violent incident in Irvington that resulted in one fatality and two injuries.

Spokesman Robert Florida said the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of 27-year-old Mr. Damian Thompson of Irvington, following a double shooting event.

The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, February 11, around 9:22 p.m., when police were alerted to shots fired on the 200 block of Isabella Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered three males outside the reported location; two had sustained gunshot wounds, and a third suffered a leg injury from a fall.

Emergency responders transported the victims to University Hospital. Unfortunately, Thompson was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m. The other two individuals received medical treatment for their non-fatal injuries.

Detectives are currently investigating the involvement of one of the injured parties as a potential suspect in the shooting.

As the investigation continues, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office urges anyone with information related to this tragic event to come forward.
