A fire that broke out inside a senior living high-rise building sent one person to the hospital in Newark.
Firefighters were called to the Stephen Crane Senior Living building located at 801 North 6th Street were crews encountered fire inside an apartment on the 15th floor at around 10:45 p.m. according to preliminary reports.
Upon arrival to the scene, firefighters were made aware of a senior resident trapped on a balcony of one of the upper floors according to reports.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the apartment, but EMS transported a resident inside the home to an area hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
