One Dead in Trenton House Fire

One person was pronounced dead in a fire that destroyed a house in Trenton overnight. 

The early morning fire ripped through a house at 19 Elm Street around 1:15 a.m. 

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found heavy flames tearing through the two-and-a-half-story house fire showing from the second floor of the structure. 

According to Trenton Fire officials, a second then the third alarm was struck after flames began to extend to homes on all sides of the burning building. 

According to officials, when firefighters forced entry into the house, they found an unconscious and unresponsive person suffering burns. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. 

A secondary search indicated no additional victims, officials said. Crews were able to bring the fire under control just before 3:335 a.m. 

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has been notified and is assisting in the investigation.
