Authorities in Elizabeth are at the scene of an apartment fire that left at least one person dead this evening.
According to preliminary reports, firefighters responded to the 200 block of Rahway Avenue for a report of a fire at a three-story apartment building.
Upon arrival, crews located the fire in a rear apartment with a possible entrapment.
Firefighters located a 75-year-old man inside a one bedroom apartment where the fire is believed to have initiated. EMS transported the victim to Trinitas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
