One Dead in Downtown Newark Construction Accident

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a fatal construction accident in downtown Newark this morning that claimed the life of a man. 

According to preliminary details, Newark police, fire, and EMS units were dispatched around 9:08 a.m. to 10 Commerce Court, near the intersection of Raymond Boulevard, after reports of an injured individual at a construction site.

Upon arrival, first responders found a person trapped between an exterior elevator and the building under construction. 

Despite firefighters’ efforts to extricate the man, they were unable to save the individual’s life. 

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since closed off Commerce Court as the investigation continues.

 Officials have not released further details, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active review.
