A deadly crash on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County is under investigation after one person was killed and another suffered serious injuries Tuesday night.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near Milepost 74 in Lacey Township shortly after 8:30 p.m. for reports of a motor vehicle crash involving entrapment.
Upon arrival, first responders located a heavily damaged vehicle with at least one occupant trapped inside.
Rescue crews worked to free the victim while additional emergency personnel established a landing zone nearby for a medical helicopter.
As the incident unfolded, authorities confirmed one person had died at the scene.
A second victim, who suffered serious injuries, was extricated from the wreckage and transported to a designated landing zone for air medical transport to a regional trauma center.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, including the number of vehicles involved and what led up to the collision, were not immediately available.
New Jersey State Police are investigating the incident.
Additional information, including the identities of those involved, was not released pending notification of family members.
