Authorities in Union County are investigating a crash that killed one person and seriously injured another in Elizabeth Sunday morning.
According to initial reports from the scene, police were called to investigate a crash near 510 Maple Avenue shortly before 4 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the crash scene and began extricating the victims from a heavily damaged vehicle.
Officials said one individual was pronounced dead at the scene and the other person was transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The cause of the collision has not been determined at this time.
