One Dead, Another Critically Injured in Jersey City Shooting

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation into a violent shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured in Jersey City early Sunday morning.

Circumstances surrounding what occurred and what prompted the gunfire remain under active investigation.

 

According to preliminary information from the scene, police responded shortly before 2:45 a.m. to reports of two people shot in the area of 356 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive

Responding officers located two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

 

Both victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition. Authorities later confirmed that one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

 

Preliminary reports indicate the suspect fled the scene in a silver colored vehicle. 

The vehicle was last reported traveling toward the New Jersey Turnpike Extension. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a white tank top and is believed to be known to investigators.

 

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to release additional information as detectives continue investigating the homicide.
