Officials today confirmed that a school bus driver was suspended after a video surfaced on social media that showed the woman on her phone while driving the bus with students on board.
The video, which was posted this morning in a private Facebook group of Old Bridge parents, showed the woman steering with her left hand while holding her phone in the right hand.
Shamrock Stage Coach bus service spokesperson confirmed that the unidentified driver has been suspended until further notice.
District Superintendent David Cittadino issued the following statement on Twitter:
“I am deeply disturbed by this lack of concern for student safety by an adult who must have known better.”
The incident is under investigation.
