The Old Bridge Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Route 9 early Thursday morning.
According to police, at approximately 1:45 a.m. a fatal crash happened in the southbound lanes of Route 9 at Schulmeister Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2016 Dodge Charger driven by James Marshall, 43, of Staten Island struck the rear of a tractor-trailer which was also traveling on Route 9 south.
Police report that Mr. Marshall was pronounced at the scene and that the operator of the tractor-trailer, Alexander Soriano, 43, of Perth Amboy, was treated for an unknown injury and released.
According to police, the tractor-trailer is owned by Tiger Transport LLC of Perth Amboy.
