Old Bridge Health & Wellness Council Kicks-Off Healthy Living Initiative

Old Bridge

Mayor Owen Henry and his Health & Wellness Council kicked off the Mayor’s Health & Wellness initiative for 2018.

Mayor Henry has encouraged all Township employees to live a healthier lifestyle.

The Health and Wellness fair took place at the Old Bridge Township Library meeting room where employees were able to interact and learn information from health screenings, restaurant owners and chef ’s, therapists, doctors of chiropractic medicine, gym trainers and professionals.

Old Bridge Township has become a fast-growing business community and thanks to the generosity of our local businesses, they created healthy menus, presentations, and demonstrations for our employees.

Employees will be educated, guided, and motivated during their journey to living a healthy lifestyle with the help of all the local businesses who are participating in this initiative.

The Mayor has set up an eight week “FIT” challenge to provoke employees to feel great, Invigorated, and Transformed. For the next

eight weeks Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be evaluation days to help employees with their process.

On Monday’s doctors and professionals will be able to show 10-15 minute presentation’s and

answer questions. Wednesday will be set up for employees to check weight and measurements in with nutritionist, pharmacists, physical therapist, and trainers.

Fridays will be pampering days where employees can enjoy massages, makeovers, motivational conversations, yoga, meditation, and more.

Many of the local businesses involved with our initiative have set up special prices and offered for our employees to put to use during this eight-week course.

Club Metro has made an offer giving all Township employees and a guest a free two-month membership.

“I’m encouraging everyone to practice an active lifestyle, healthy eating, and routine health screenings,” said Mayor Henry. “A healthy lifestyle can be equally important to your mental health and sense of wellbeing.”

This program will encourage and educate our Township employees and residents to healthier life choices.

Mayor Henry plans to roll out this Health & Wellness initiative to the community after the employee program is complete. There are plans to include the participation of additional businesses around town.
