Ohio Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Bergen County

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Cecil C. Chan, 67, Columbus, Ohio on a charge of Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to police, on Tuesday, October 27, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office initiated a traffic stop of an Acura MDX on Interstate 80 West in Lodi.

The driver and registered owner of the Acura MDX was identified as Chan. A Bergen County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detection K-9 gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Detectives then searched Chan’s vehicle and discovered two large duffle bags filled with vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana totaling approximately forty pounds.

Police report that Chan was arrested without incident. Detectives also seized approximately $5,500.00 in U.S. Currency that was in Chan’s possession.

According to officials, Chan was charged with one count of Possession With Intent To Distribute Marijuana over Twenty-Five pounds.

He was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
