There is an active and ongoing investigation into an overnight incident where two police officers suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle at a location in Jersey City.
Details are preliminary and pending a police information request, but according to reports, a frantic plea for back up was received by police headquarters where officers in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Drive and Bayview Avenue suffered serious injuries after a vehicle struck them at approximately 12:45 a.m.
Arriving units and EMS found the injured officers then transported them to Jersey City Medical Center where doctors treated then listed them in stable condition according to preliminary reports.
One person was taken into custody and reports say a weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police have not released the motive for the incident at this time.
