There were non-life threatening injuries reported for two officers whose patrol car was rammed during a traffic stop in Newark's South Ward on Sunday morning.

According to preliminary reports, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Leslie Street for an unknown situation when the driver of the car sped the car up and rammed the police cruiser at around 2:05 a.m.

Police say the suspect sped away in a black BMW immediately after the incident.
