DEVELOPING PATERSON NJ: A foot pursuit of a suspect wanted for possession of CDS has a police officer being transported to St. Josephs Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries after being physically attacked (punched in the face) by the suspect.
The incident happened at around 5 a.m. in the area of East 22nd Street and 12th Ave. when officers reportedly in plain clothes noticed a suspect wanted for drug possession.
Officers approached the suspect attempting to investigate when the man went on the attack, striking one of the officers in the face before fleeing the scene according to initial reports.
Assisting officers caught up with the suspect, arresting him a short distance away.
The man was reportedly carrying a large amount of narcotics.
