NY Woman Charged Following Suspected Brothel Investigation in Franklin Twp.

Franklin Township (Somerset)

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Franklin Township Chief of Police Richard Grammar announced the arrest of Xu Huiqin, 47 of Flushing, New York.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on August 15th at approximately 3:45 P.M., after a two-month long investigation conducted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force and the Franklin Township Police Department, Xu Huiqin was arrested for engaging in prostitution.

Officials say the investigation began after law enforcement received several complaints from concerned citizens regarding a suspected brothel being operated out of the massage parlor, New Image Spa on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township, New Jersey.

During the course of this investigation, a Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detective, acting in an undercover capacity, entered the New Image Spa and was met by defendant Huiqin. During this meeting the undercover detective was propositioned by defendant Huiqin for a sexual act in exchange for U.S. currency.

According to authorities, at this time, Task Force members, along with members of the Franklin Township Police Department entered the business and placed defendant Huiqin under arrest without incident. Defendant Huiqin was charged with Engaging in Prostitution, a disorderly persons offense out of the Franklin Township Municipal Court. Huiqin was processed and released on her own recognizance pending a Franklin Township Municipal Court hearing.
