Friends and families across Newark and North Jersey are waking up to a comfortable but cloudy Sunday morning as Portugal Day festivities get underway in the Ironbound section.According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in downtown Newark started off around 64 degrees and are expected to reach the mid-70s by the afternoon.
However, there's a 40 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m., so residents planning to attend the Dia De Portugal parade and events on Ferry Street should keep an umbrella handy.
The day won’t be a complete washout, but scattered showers are possible, particularly later in the day.

Tonight, the chance of rain increases to 50 percent, with cloudy skies and lows around 61 degrees.
If you're heading to early Sunday service or joining the crowds celebrating Portuguese culture, a light jacket may be useful in the morning breezes, but not essential.
Rain or shine, Newark’s Portuguese community is expected to celebrate in full spirit.
